Catch The Rain - Save It For A Sunny Day!
Here are some questions and answers to help you get started:
Every gardener will tell you rain is the best water for plants. And it can be a great backup water source in case of emergency. What will a rain catchment system look like?
How big of a tank do I need?
We can help you size your tank. Let us know the size of your roof and your garden, and whether you want to use the collected water for any other purpose beyond irrigation.
Did you know that a 1,000 square foot roof can capture over 600 gallons of water in a 1” rain?
Can I integrate rainwater into an irrigation system?
Yes! Rainwater is the best water for your plants. We can configure a tank to suit your needs, whether you’ll be hand watering or you have a fully automated irrigation system.
Is rainwater collection legal in my state?
Absolutely! Rainwater collection is actively encouraged in most states, such as in Texas where rainwater management systems are exempt from sales tax. More recently, restrictions have been relaxed in Colorado, California, and elsewhere.
How do I keep mosquitos and critters out of my tank?
We offer inlet and outlet hardware that is designed to keep mosquitos, animals and debris out of your tank.
What about system maintenance?
A properly designed rainwater system needs very little maintenance. Prefiltering the water as it comes off the roof minimizes or eliminates the need to clean out the tank.
Can these tanks be buried?
No. These tanks are for above ground use only.
What do I need to know before ordering?
You will need to specify the size and placement of inlet and outlet fittings, including overflow. We also offer installation supplies such as pumps, prefiltration devices, and stainless rings for crushed granite stabilizing bases such as in the photo.
